Be Ready: Disaster Preparedness for Older Adults

Older adults face disproportionate risks during disasters — including hurricanes, floods, wildfires, extreme heat, power outages, and public health emergencies. 

The AARP Disaster Resilience Tool Kit, developed with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), provides local leaders with practical strategies to reduce these risks and strengthen community-wide resilience. In this presentation, you'll explore disaster-preparation approaches and access resources from AARP, FEMA, the American Red Cross, and state emergency management sites.
