Join AARP Vermont and the Vermont Garden Network for a colorful, hands-on introduction to plant-based natural dyes.
Learn beginner-friendly techniques for creating vibrant hues—from golden yellow to robin’s egg blue—using dye plants you can grow yourself. We’ll cover the basics of mordants, after baths, and over-dyeing on natural fibers, giving you the confidence to start your own dye projects. Each participant will create their own sample color palette with wool yarn and also take home a silk handkerchief dyed with their favorite color.
No prior experience needed; just bring your curiosity and a willingness to explore the rainbow!
