AARP Minnesota Advocacy Volunteer Training: Preparing for the 2027 Legislative Session
The 2027 legislative session is fast approaching, and volunteers will play an important role in helping lawmakers understand the issues that matter most to older Minnesotans.
Join fellow advocacy volunteers to learn about AARP Minnesota's priorities, hear what to expect during session, and prepare to engage with lawmakers on the issues that matter most to older Minnesotans.
- The morning session (9:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.) is open to all advocacy volunteers and will cover AARP Minnesota's 2027 legislative priorities, the political landscape heading into session, opportunities for volunteer engagement, and what to expect during the 2027 legislative session.
- The afternoon session (12:15 to 2:45 p.m.) is designed for new volunteers and anyone looking for a refresher on meeting with lawmakers. Participants will learn best practices for engaging lawmakers, hear tips from experienced advocates, and practice legislative meetings through interactive role-play exercises.
Whether you're a longtime advocate or attending your first training, you'll leave better prepared for the 2027 legislative session.
Lunch and breakfast snacks will be provided.
