What to Expect

Classes will start out with a brief presentation by AARP NJ on resources. Each class is approximately 50–55 minutes of guided movement led by an experienced, certified instructor. Classes may inlude a mix of standing exercises, seated movements, stretching, balance work, and light strengthening.

The pace is moderate. If any movement feels too fast or uncomfortable, simply modify or follow along at your own speed. There is no pressure to keep up with every exercise.

In this virtual bone-strengthening workout, American Council on Exercise (ACE)-certified instructor Mitch Menik will guide you through dynamic standing, and stretching exercises, performed with or without weights, that are designed to mildly stress the body. This practice promotes an increase in bone density, protecting against osteoporosis, and can help strengthen the muscles that support the skeletal structure, improving balance, flexibility, strength and endurance.

Who is this For?

  • Adults of all fitness levels, including beginners
  • People looking to improve bone density, balance, flexibility, or overall wellness
  • Anyone who wants a guided, low-impact workout from the comfort of home
  • If you have injuries or mobility limitations, you are welcome to participate at your own pace. Please consult your physician before starting any new exercise program.

How to Prepare

  • Make sure to wear comfortable clothing and athletic shoes.
  • A sturdy chair without wheels
  • One-to-five-pound weights-whatever you’re comfortable with (optional)
  • Water
  • A towel (optional)
  • A quiet space with room to move your arms and legs
