Free Paper Shredding Event in Citrus Heights

AARP volunteers and staff will be onsite sharing information on how you can protect yourself and loved ones from frauds and scams. Shredding services will be done onsite. AARP volunteers and staff will help unload trunks.

Please do NOT arrive before 9:30 a.m. so the shred truck and team can set up the event - any early arrivals will be asked to leave and return. The first 100 attendees with receive an AARP gift bag, while supplies last.

DRY paper documents only (staples and paperclips are ok). No plastic, wires, hardbound books, binding, binder clips, glass, metals, aluminum, rubber, wires, spiral notebooks, hanging file folders, discs, credit cards, plastic packaging, bubble wrap, or pre-shredded documents, etc.

To help expedite the process, please do not have bags tied or boxes taped shut.

Please also ensure ALL papers are loose and not in individual bags in boxes or in individual bags inside larger bags. Please discard any check book boxes ahead of the event.

Any and all containers with any wet and/or moldy papers or any containers with non-paper documents (i.e. plastic, binder clips, metal folder hangers, rubber, rubbish, food wrappers, foreign objects, etc.) will be refused. Attendees will need to discard their own empty containers (boxes, bags, tubs, etc.).

Additional information:

· The on-site shred truck will stay until the time scheduled or until it reaches capacity, whichever comes first.

·This service is only for personal use, and not intended for businesses.

· Long wait times are expected, especially towards the beginning of the event. Please plan accordingly.

· To help accommodate as many attendees as possible, please kindly rip off the name address portion to be shredded from any magazines, mail catalogs, etc. Please do NOT bring items that do not need to be shredded such as advertisements, instruction manuals, coupons, newspaper, scratch paper without personal information, junk mail without a name/address, empty check book boxes, etc.

· It is very helpful to empty any large envelopes prior to arriving to expedite the process.

Optional:

We will be collecting non-perishable (non-expired) food items (pull tab canned food, cup of noodles, packaged breakfast or protein bars, packaged snacks, etc.) for the Volunteers of America Veterans Service Center and new blankets, towels (all sizes), undershirts/tank tops (white, black, grey) and pillows for the Sacramento Stand Down. Please bring any items you would like to donate. Participation is optional and not required to have your paper documents shredded.
