AARP Rhode Island staff will be partnering with the Providence Parks Department and the Station Park Meadow Friends Group to help care for and beautify one of Providence's unique urban green spaces. Staff and volunteers will assist with weeding and general meadow clean-up while enjoying time outdoors and connecting with fellow volunteers, staff, and passersby.
Located at One Park Row across from the Providence Train Station (city side), the corner of Gaspee Street and Francis Street, Station Park Meadow is a vibrant 14,000-square-foot pollinator habitat and community gathering space featuring native flowers, walking paths, and scenic areas to relax and enjoy nature. The award-winning Meadow has been praised as a “stunning oasis that brought life to a dreary, concrete-dominated transit landscape.” (ecoRI News)
No gardening experience is needed. Garden gloves and tools will be provided, and we'll celebrate our morning of service together with lunch at a local restaurant afterward.
You can meet us directly at the meadow (street parking and train station parking are available and may be expensed through the Volunteer Portal), or park at the AARP Rhode Island State Office and walk to the location.
Space is limited... register today! We hope you'll join us for a rewarding morning of service, community, and fun!
