AARP Maine invites you and your loved ones to a special celebration at the Frances Perkins Center honoring over 90 years of Social Security.
Right in Newcastle, the Frances Perkins Center preserves the legacy of Frances Perkins, the trailblazing woman behind the New Deal and one of the key architects of Social Security. Her work has shaped the lives of millions, helping older Americans stay out of poverty and live with dignity after a lifetime of hard work.
Now, nine decades later, Social Security has never missed a payment. That’s worth celebrating and we’d love for you to be part of it.
Join us for a fun, family‑friendly afternoon filled with crafts, games, snacks, and time to explore the Center’s exhibits and scenic trails. It’s a chance to learn, connect, and enjoy the place Frances Perkins herself cherished.
This event is a "drop by event" you may arrive any time during the event program to visit our tables. The program will remain consistent no matter the time you arrive. Stay for as long or little as you like while exploring this piece of Newcastle history!
Carpooling is encouraged, and if the weather doesn’t cooperate, we’ll bring the celebration indoors.
We hope you’ll come share in this joyful milestone with us.
