Whether you are new to AARP or have been volunteering with us for 20 years, we want to ensure that every one of our volunteers has a common orientation and the most up-to-date training. “Fast Track” is a quick (about 25 minutes per session) three-part series offered by AARP’s Office of Volunteer Engagement (OVE) that is available on demand on the Volunteer Portal and highly recommended by State President Elizabeth Howlett. It is our goal that every volunteer complete “Fast Track.”
We invite you to access Fast Track on your own time and email Mara Cassata mcassata@aarp.org that you’ve completed it – or to join the AARP Rhode Island team and fellow volunteers for a virtual group opportunity:
Tuesday July 21, 11 am – 12 noon: VIRTUAL EXPERIENCE. Join us online – we will share the presentations and have a group discussion and Q and A afterward.
This event will screen “Fast Track” Session One and Session Two (see below for content). Based on attendees’ feedback, we will likely offer more such opportunities in the Fall.
SESSION ONE – General Orientation
Provides a volunteer's view of AARP. Highlights include AARP (then and now), volunteer guidelines and opportunities. This Session gives you an excellent foundation from which to start your AARP Volunteer journey.
SESSION TWO –Structure/Organization
Presents the AARP national and state structure, the regional models and volunteer resources. You will learn the big picture of AARP and see behind the scenes and the inner workings of this great organization.
