Join AARP Minnesota for a special Pride Month screening of Gen Silent, a powerful documentary that explores the struggles of LGBTQ+ older adults. The film highlights how fear of anti-LGBTQ+ abuse causes many older adults to hide their identities, neglect their health, and face isolation, reflecting the lingering impact of a lifetime shaped by stigma and silence.

Following the screening, stay for a thoughtful panel discussion featuring LGBTQ+ community members, advocates, and aging-service professionals:

  • Rajean Moone, Faculty Director - LTC Administration, University of Minnesota
  • James Falvey, Executive Director, Friends & Co
  • Harry Hartigan, Community Advocate
  • Diane Graham-Raff, Community Advocate

Together, we’ll reflect on the film, explore the real-life challenges facing LGBTQ+ older adults today, and discuss how communities, caregivers, and service providers can foster more inclusive, affirming, and supportive environments as we age.

This event is an opportunity to listen, learn, and engage in meaningful conversation honoring lived experiences while lifting up ways we can all help create a future where aging with dignity, authenticity, and connection is possible for everyone.

AARP will provide each attendee with a complimentary drink ticket, along with classic movie snacks and fresh popcorn to enjoy.
