In honor of Juneteenth 2026, AARP invites you to a powerful and inspiring virtual event that brings history to life through the voices of those who lived it. This special program will feature four African American residents of North Carolina who will share their personal stories and lived experiences as part of our nation’s Black history.
Through heartfelt storytelling, each speaker will reflect on pivotal moments in their lives—whether through participation in the Civil Rights Movement, breaking barriers in their communities or professions, advancing education and opportunity, or preserving cultural traditions and legacies. Together, their stories will illuminate the resilience, courage, and contributions of African Americans across generations. This engaging and meaningful event offers attendees a unique opportunity to:
- Hear firsthand accounts of history that textbooks often overlook
- Gain a deeper understanding of the impact of Black history on our communities today
- Reflect on the significance of Juneteenth as a celebration of freedom, perseverance, and progress
- Connect with a shared sense of heritage, purpose, and community
Whether you are looking to learn, reflect, or be inspired, this virtual gathering promises to be a memorable tribute to the voices and experiences that continue to shape our state and our nation.
