Let’s explore the many connections between artworks in the collection of the Smithsonian American Art Museum (SAAM) and other Smithsonian Museums. In this presentation, we will examine various works at SAAM and draw parallels between artifacts and knowledge from other museums. The presenter was inspired by a recent visit to the National Zoo to see the baby elephant and thought about a work of art in the Renwick Gallery’s contemporary craft collection. Connections will include artifacts at the National Museum of African History and Culture, a flag from the American History Museum, rocks from the National Museum of Natural History, phenomena from the Air and Space Museum, regalia from the National Museum of the American Indian and more.

This online program is offered by the Lifetime Learning Institute of Northern Virginia, which is affiliated with Northern Virginia Community College.

This program will not be recorded.
