Join fellow veterans, military members, and families for a guided hawk-watching experience along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Each fall, thousands of raptors—including hawks, eagles, falcons, and vultures—migrate south along the Appalachian Mountains. Late September marks the peak of the Broad-winged Hawk migration, where these birds gather in dramatic flocks called “kettles” en route to Central and South America.
Binoculars are recommended but not required. Please bring a chair, water, sunscreen, sunglasses, and anything else to stay comfortable. This event is brought to you in collaboration with the National Parks Conservation Association.
