AARP volunteers and one guest are invited to a special hands-on technology workshop led by Darryl Greer, Regional Program Manager, South Region, Older Adults Technology Services (OATS).
This interactive learning experience will introduce attendees to the programs and resources available through OATS and Senior Planet, while exploring how emerging technologies can be used safely and confidently in everyday life. Participants will engage in two in-depth sessions focused on Introduction to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and AI Disinformation, gaining practical knowledge about how AI works, its benefits, potential risks, and how to identify misleading or inaccurate information online.
The workshop agenda includes:
- 30-minute Introduction to OATS and Senior Planet
- 1-hour Introduction to AI session
- 1-hour AI Disinformation session
- 30-minute Senior Planet website demonstration & Fraud & Scams discussion
To get the most from this interactive workshop, please bring a smartphone, tablet, iPad, laptop, or other Wi-Fi-capable device, along with something to take notes with.
Attendees will enjoy coffee and pastries upon arrival, a boxed lunch, and scheduled breaks throughout the day, including a 30-minute lunch break.
This event will be held at the The Main Library in Downtown Jacksonville at 303 N. Laura Street in the "Lounge at 303 N.".
Paid parking is available in several nearby lots and garages, as well as at metered street parking locations surrounding the Downtown Jacksonville Public Library. The Duval Library Parking Garage, located at the corner of Main Street and Duval Street, is a convenient option for event attendees and volunteers.
Volunteers may submit their parking expenses via the Volunteer Portal for reimbursement related to this event. Please be sure to retain your parking receipt for reimbursement purposes.
Please plan to arrive 15–20 minutes early to allow time for parking and check-in.
This special event is open to AARP volunteers and one guest per volunteer. Registration for all participants is required.
