Medicare Fraud Awareness and Prevention

Join us for our Quarterly Volunteer Fraud Prevention Call at 1:30 PM on September 29 featuring a special presentation by Lisa Sessions, LCSW, MSW, a Health Insurance Specialist with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
Lisa specializes in health policy, program evaluation, regulatory compliance, stakeholder engagement, and program integrity. With extensive expertise in Medicare, Medicaid managed care, and fraud, waste, and abuse prevention, she helps translate complex policy, legislation, and data into practical strategies that strengthen oversight and improve program performance.
During this session, Lisa will provide an overview of Medicare Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Prevention, highlighting common schemes targeting beneficiaries, warning signs to watch for, and best practices for protecting personal and healthcare information. Volunteers will learn how fraud impacts individuals and the healthcare system, how to identify potential concerns, and what resources are available for reporting and prevention.
