Join us for the AARP Ohio Summer Shred!

Don’t know what to do with all those tax forms, private documents and the metric ton of receipts fattening your wallet?  Don't sweat it. Shred it! Stay one step ahead of identity thieves. Fight fraud by registering for our FREE shredding event brought to you by AARP Ohio. 

The event will take place: 

Franklin County Fairgrounds

4951 NW Parkway

Hilliard, Ohio 43026

Use the above address in your GPS or turn onto Northwest Parkway as seen in the Franklin County Fairgrounds map HERE. Look for the AARP red flags for the entrance on the day of the event.

This is a drive-thru and drop-off event. There is no specific time to attend once you register (pre-registration required. No exceptions). Arrive between 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. on August 1. Please do NOT arrive prior to event start time to allow for safe event set up.

 Guidelines for Shredding:

• Please remain in your vehicle at all times.
• There will be one lane directing into four shred vehicles.
• Expect delays. 
• Limit two boxes per vehicle: Box size 16.25" x 12.5" x 10.5" or one trash bag size 13 x 17 x 26".
• Each container should weigh less than 50 lbs.
• Boxes should not be sealed or taped.
• Staff will remove the boxes out of your vehicle.
• Staples and binder clips are okay, but remove everything from 3 ring binders, padfolios and plastic or vinyl folders. 

ACCEPTED Documents and Items for onsite destruction, include: 

• Paper documents
• Paper receipts
• Paper mail
• File folders
• Pictures
• Labels

Items Not Accepted to shred on site include:

• Batteries
• CD/hard drives, and other technology
• Medical Waste
• Credit Cards

IMPORTANT: The Following Guidelines Will be Strictly Enforced

• To help ensure each registrant can participate, registration is REQUIRED IN ADVANCE. There is no on-site registration.  If carpooling, please ensure EACH person who intends to drop off shred items has registered.
• Registration is capped at 650 registrations. Registration and the registration link will close when the cap is reached.
• There will be NO bulk shredding for businesses or households.

Items will be shred on site. Once items are placed in the shredder, your box or bag will immediately be returned to you.
