Elections in the Age of AI

Trust in elections is essential but has weakened in recent years. One culprit is the rapid spread of false information about candidates and election processes through artificial intelligence (AI). This event will feature two panel discussions. In the first, experts from a variety of professional backgrounds will address how AI has been used in elections, what strategies have proven effective in combating false election-related information, how people ensure that the information they receive is true, how political campaigns are responding, and what public officials can do to address and mitigate the harm from false election information. In the second panel, two former elected officials working as part of the Democracy Defense Foundation will focus on the transparency, safety, security, and validity of elections, with a particular focus on New Hampshire.
