More than one in four Americans over the age of 65 falls each year, and residents of Western North Carolina are no exception. Falls are the leading cause of fatal and nonfatal injuries for older adults in the United States. The City of Brevard Age-Friendly Task Force has coordinated this free seminar on fall prevention. Presentations will focus on causes for falls, ways to reduce the risk of falls, home safety,  local resources, and what to do if you or a household member falls.  Speakers include representatives from the Land of Sky Regional Council Area Agency on Aging, Transylvania County Emergency Medical Services, physical therapy and occupational therapy practices.
