About the Event
Raised in London’s working-class neighborhood of Shoreditch, Matt Monro, a.k.a “The Man with the Golden Voice,” became one of Britain’s most iconic singers and an internationally acclaimed star.
Radio host and professor Gil Gigliotti will explore Monro’s life and music, including hits “Portrait of My Love,” “From Russia with Love” and “Born Free.” Gigliotti will also discuss his collaborators, wildly popular Spanish-language records, and constant touring throughout Europe, the Americas, Asia, Australia and Africa before his premature death in 1985.
